Fast Food

Fast food paired with beer

Sometimes there is nothing better than indulging in something greasy, salty, or cheesy. If you are one of those people who like a pizza, a pulled pork sandwich, a juicy burgers, or freshly fried chicken. Then here is our guide to finding that perfect beer to go with your indulgent meal.

Aim for bitter beers

One of the challenges of American style fast foods is keeping the overall flavour relatively light and vibrant. The food itself doesn’t help, but luckily there are beers out there, that can push your meal in the right direction.

What you need to do, is finding a beer that will give the salty and fatty elements a bit of resistance. Here bitterness is your friend because the bitterness help balancing those potent fast food flavours. But bitter beers are also fantastic if your favourite takeaway is “extra spicy”. The bitterness will take a bit of the edge of the burning chili and taste … moreish.

IPAs are perfect with fast food

So, after you’ve looked at the menu look in the fridge with pale ales and IPAs. The citrussy hop aromas and the puckering bitterness in a hop forward IPA will make it the perfect companion to most classic American fast foods, as well as hot Asian dished.

If you’re planning for at spicy salami pizza then plan for a light bodied, semi bitter lager to drink with it and if it’s cheeseburger day then go for a bitter brown ale.
No matter what aim for bitterness … not in life, just in your fast food beer.
